Rob Marsh

Rob Marsh is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer with more than 30 years of experience working across premium international television drama, feature films and commercials. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Rob works internationally across New Zealand, Australia and Canada, bringing a wealth of experience, a distinctive visual sensibility and a collaborative approach to productions of every scale.

Rob’s work has earned significant industry recognition, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Live Action Program for Netflix’s acclaimed series Sweet Tooth. As Director of Photography across all three seasons, he helped shape the series’ distinctive cinematic world. His work has also received multiple Gold Awards at the New Zealand Cinematographers Society (NZCS) Awards, a Gold Award from the Queensland and Northern Territory Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS), and a Silver Award from the NZCS for his cinematography on The Last Anniversary.

His international television credits include Sweet Tooth (Netflix), The Wilds (Amazon), Deadloch, Strife, The Last Anniversary and Black Snow. His experience spans a diverse range of genres, from large-scale genre productions and elevated drama to character-driven stories, bringing a strong understanding of visual storytelling, atmosphere and performance to every project.

Rob’s feature film experience includes working on some of the world’s most recognisable productions, including Avatar, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit films and The Chronicles of Narnia. His additional Director of Photography credits include the New Zealand features The Devil’s Rock and Low Down Dirty Criminals, reflecting a career that balances international blockbuster experience with independent filmmaking.

Accredited by the New Zealand Cinematographers Society, Rob combines extensive technical knowledge with a passion for creating visually compelling, emotionally resonant imagery. His ability to adapt to different creative visions, production environments and storytelling styles has established him as a trusted collaborator across the international screen industry, with a commitment to bringing ambitious stories to life through powerful cinematic images.
