Top Techs is a diary service for freelance film, TV and content crew. We're based in Sydney and we look after the diaries of crew working across Australia.
What we do
We run your diary. When a production company calls asking who's available for a shoot, we come straight back with the crew in that department who are free on those dates. Your availability gets checked, your name goes forward and your CV is there for them to look at.
You get access to our diary system, so you can see your holds, your confirmed jobs and your availability in real time from your phone or your laptop. No more losing track of who has pencilled you for what.
You also get:
Your CV hosted on our website, on the page for your department
Your name put forward whenever there's an enquiry in your department
A monthly newsletter covering drama and longform projects going into production
A weekly email covering which production companies and directors are shooting commercials
How bookings actually work
This is the part worth understanding before you sign up. We're a diary service rather than an agency, so we don't go out and find you work. Jobs come from producers and heads of department who already know what you do.
When a production is crewing, we put forward everyone in that department who's available, listed alphabetically. It's a fair and impartial service. Every available crew member gets in front of the production and the choice is theirs.
What we need from you
The service works best for crew who are already established. Before joining, you'll need:
Recent credits in motion work, relevant to the department you want to list in
A network. Producers, HODs and coordinators who already know your work
A CV that's up to date and stays up to date. It's what production looks at, so an old one costs you jobs
If you're early in your career, or coming across from stills, another discipline or from overseas, a diary service probably isn't the right step yet. Build the credits and the contacts first. We're happy to have that conversation either way.
The fee
Our diary service runs on a flat monthly fee, payable from the second month. It covers your diary, your CV on the site, your name going forward on every enquiry in your department, the monthly newsletter and the weekly commercials email.
How to join
Send us your CV using the form below and tell us which department you want to list in. If it looks like a fit we'll come back to you to talk it through.
If you'd rather talk first, call us on +61 2 9958 1611. If the market is quiet we'll say so, and we'll tell you plainly if we think it isn't the right time for you to come onto the books.
